What it takes to join Troop 98

As a parent, you want your son to grow up to be a person of worth, self-reliant, dependable, and a caring individual. Scouting has these same goals in mind for him.

We are pleased that you are considering joining Boy Scout Troop 98. It is our hope that you will find your time with Troop 98 a rewarding and, most of all, fun experience in which to continue or begin your Scouting adventure.

We have an active program, attempting to camp one weekend out of each month and to schedule as many varied camping locations and experiences as possible throughout the year. We encourage attendance at as many activities as you can make. If you miss one camp out you may lose out on an advancement or merit badge opportunity that may not be offered again for some time.

At Troop 98, we strive to keep scouting affordable to everyone. We want to reach as many youth as possible in an effort to train them as individuals, a team and future leaders. All you have to do to join is simply come out to any of our meetings and talk to us. We will have applications available to fill out at any time.

The cost of membership is $95.00 a year for boys and $15.00 a year for adult leaders.

We renew our membership every February. New scouts can download a youth application and adult leaders can download the adult leader application here.

Scouting reinforces the skills and values we want our sons to learn while they're having fun. Our goal at Troop 98 is to continually develop a program that will challenge the youth of our community to make a difference in the environment they live. Scouting goes far beyond camping, canoeing, hiking, earning merit badges, rank advancement. Scouting is a way of life, a set of values and standards we try to teach these young men.

If we are able to influence our youth with the right values, morals and standards now, this will become their way of thinking which will govern how they make decisions in the future. At some point in our future, these same young men will be making decisions, judgments, laws, and other life changing actions that will affect our lives. Those decisions will be in our best interest if we have given them the proper foundation to build their way of thinking and reasoning.
