About Us
Who:
Troop 98 is a registered unit of the
Boy Scouts of America.
We serve the communities in and around
Bartlett,
Carol Stream,
Hanover Park,
and
West Chicago,
in
DuPage County
in west suburban
Chicago.
We are a unit of
Chippewa District,
which falls within the
Three Fires Council
of the BSA.
We are chartered by
Our Savior Lutheran Church.
What: We attempt to teach the boys life skills, instill in them a sense of character, responsibility, and confidence, and train them for citizenship, service, and leadership, as articulated in the BSA mission statement.
Skills instruction and camping are major components of the program.
When & Where: The troop holds meetings Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:15 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, at 1244 W. Army Trail Road, Carol Stream.
Troop meetings are conducted by the Senior Patrol Leader and his assistant(s). They generally follow a previously decided monthly theme, e.g., preparing for campouts.
The Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meets on the third Monday of each month to plan details of monthly troop meetings. There is no regular troop meeting on these days. In addition, it holds an annual planning meeting, usually in January, to plan the themes and activities for the coming year. The boys are encouraged to be actively engaged in the planning activities.
The Troop 98 Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, to discuss troop direction, plan and coordinate events, handle finances, organize fundraisers, etc.
